In a major boost to business and tourism in Ballari and Vijayanagara districts, regional airline Star Air has announced the introduction of a daily flight service between Bengaluru and Hampi from November 1.
Flights through Vidyanagar (JSW) Airport
The new flight will run through Vidyanagar (JSW) Airport, the nearest airport to Hampi. The announcement is a relief to tourists and residents, as flight operations at JSW Airport were shut down for the last month.
Enhanced Connectivity for Tourists and Locals
This flight is anticipated to significantly increase access to Hampi — a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in South India. The service will also be expected to benefit Ballari by attracting more tourists and supporting local enterprises.

Flight Schedule
As per Star Air, the flight will leave Bengaluru daily at 7:50 AM, reach Vidyanagar at 8:40 AM, and leave Vidyanagar at 9:10 AM, reaching Bengaluru by 10:00 AM.
Relief After Service Suspension
Alliance Air used to run daily flights on this route previously, but service was discontinued due to technical issues. Restoration of flight operations by Star Air has brought smiles to both businessmen and tourists in the region
Local Response
Virupakshi V. Hampi, Secretary of the State Tourist Guides Association and Hampi Guide, expressed his gratitude:
“Hampi is about 35 km from JSW Vidyanagar Airport. Currently, many tourists use Hubballi Airport, which is around 150 km away. I’m thankful to Star Air for starting this much-needed service.”
